Part 2

HAMA House – Living Room
Wow… The living, room, is filled, with colours.
It straight up gives a colourful world vibez, doesn’t it~~!? We invited two very special little guests known as Muneuji and your little sisters to instruct us today.
Oh… is that, why… we went, back in, to browse… more?
Yeah. They hadn’t finished decorating yet. Asking for help with the art supplies also gave them a little more time.
But now we’re good to start. Alright, listen up, I better hear every single one of you shouting your heart out.
You don’t need to tell me twice!
Are we ready~? …And!!
Happy birthday!!
Thank… you.
Happy birthday, Kiroku. Here’s some hand cream, it’s your present from me.
You do a lot of nitty gritty stuff with them, right? I got this so you could keep them moisturized.
I’ll be looking forward to more artworks made from those precious hands of yours. Let’s both keep up the good work.
Yeah…
We got you some protective charms. It’s to hope that no bad luck or misfortunes will befall on you. Toi put a lot of his prayers into it.
Let’s always be friends, Kiro-chan!
Of, course… We’ll, always, be friends.
Chii got you a face towel from TuRyuSta ♪ I hope you like it, here!
It’s so, cute… Stakichi, and TuRysuke are… holding, hands.
Right? Chii wants to hold hands with everyone just like them and totes hype up the vibes in HAMA too ♪
…Yeah. I’m gonna, do that, too.
And now folks, this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Presented to you by Akuta Isotake! And handcrafted by THE Iron Chef Ushio Kurama—-
It’s the “Vividly Avant-Garde ☆ What’s With This Colour Spray Bonanza!? It’s an Explosion of Colour! An Epileptic Seizure~ Can’t Wait to Dig In, Bone Apple Teeth!” Cake~!
This is the shittiest name I’ve ever heard.
It perfectly expresses the energy being exuded by this cake.
…The cake, is so, colourful.
It was based off of the vibe of your artworks.
But that’s not all there is to this cake.
Try cutting it open. You’re in for a big surprise once you hardly know her.
“Once you take a look” dammit. Even if you were tryin’ to say “looker,” you left out the most important part.1
Oh… There’s, a small, cake… and, chocolate, inside. It’s so, colourful.
I would like to point out that Uu-chan personally made those too.
I’d like to see someone try to put something store-bought in.
Ooh Aah!! I mean I already knew what was inside, but no matter how many times I see it this looks amazing!!! Hey, can we eat already!?
…Sure. I’ll, cut it up.
Thanks!
Hey, stop trying to order the birthday boy around. You too, Kiroku, be harsher with him.
We’re always, like this, so… Here, this is, for you… Nanamegi. I’ll cut up, everyone else's—
…Jeez.
Nom nom. Ah~~ This slaps… Ushio’s cakes never miss, they’re bussin’! This is the best!!
Oh, looks like you guys are having fun!
Nishizono-san… Welcome, back. How was… your, work?
Heh, I’ve gotten the full hang of 4 AM shoots now. It’s only natural since I’m a celebrity who knows how to get up early.
But more importantly. I’ve got your present for you, right here!
I was really lost on what to get you… ‘cause of the Random Present thing—
But as a fellow member of the origami club, it just had to be this!
*thud*
Wow… It’s so… heavy.
A complete set of 100 origami papers, chosen by yours truly, and “The Path to Aiming For an Origami Master, The Book!” It even has gold, silver, and the special sparkly holographic paper inside.
Happy birthday. I hope you enjoy your year.
Yeah… Thank, you… very, much.
Ah… this book, is so cool… It tells you, how, to make, all sorts, of things.
…I wonder, how, this one, is folded…?
Oh! Then should we try making some right now? It looks a little hard, but I’m sure we can do it if we help each other out!
Yeah… …Um, first… you fold it, in half. Next…
Fold it roughly a third of the way, I think? And then after opening it back up and folding again…
……
Hm? Kiro-chan, Renga-san, what are you two doing?
Is that origami?
Wow, since when did this place turn into a kindergarten?
WHOA! Is that a one-headed Cerberus!? I didn’t know you could make THAT from origami paper, Master Artist you’re cracked!
Isn’t that just a normal dog then?
It looks like this book teaches you how to make various animal origami. There’s cats, chickens, kappas…
I think I’ll try folding some too.
Teacher! I wanna do it too!
Then I as well.
Chii wants in too~!
I’m sure Ani-sama would be able to fold this complicated looking owl in a jiffy.
Easy shit, I’ll be done in seconds.
…Hmm? The corners are so hard to line up…!
Do it like that and… huh? How did it turn out like this?
Maybe trying to fold something difficult like a Buddha statue2 right off the bat wasn’t the best idea.
Can you shut up and fold your stupid panda in silence?
Uuurk~… what’s happening, why is the inside so complicated? Kiroku, origami is like the universe.
Yeah… that’s why, it’s fun…
I get it!
……
………
Sorry for being late! I bought some snacks to make up for—
Huh, why is everyone so quiet!?
Oh my. It looks like everyone is having a HAMA Tours origami folding festival.
Huh!?
I-I ended up getting way too into it, I didn’t notice…!
Ah… there’s, so many, origamis. You can, barely… see the table.
But it looks very beautiful. We could hold an exhibition!
Yeah… I want… to show, them, to my sister.
I’m sure she’d be overjoyed. Do you want to take some home? If you need a bag to carry them, let me know!
…Thank, you. Chief…
(An overabundance of colourful origami…)
(…Are filling my world with colour.)
(...It’s beautiful.)
In the original, Akuta mispronounces the saying 仕込みを御覧じろ (shikomi wo go-rou jiro; take a look) to 仕込みをゴローとジロー (shikomi wo gorou to jirou) which is a somewhat common mispronunciation of this phrase. In response, Ryui corrects him and then asks “Who the hell are Gorou and Jirou?” since ‘gorou’ and ‘jirou’ are a common naming sense in Japanese. To translate this, I decided to go with the “I hardly know her” joke.
Although Nanaki is the one saying this here, Ushio normally calls Kiroku 仏像, or Buddha statue, but as a collective decision, TLward decided the nickname “Golem” was a better fit translation-wise. However, as golem origami isn’t really a thing, unlike Buddha origami, I decided to keep the original wording here.
