Track 2

Kanazawa – Kanazawa 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art
We’ve arrived. The Kanazawa 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art…!
The Tsuzumi-mon Gate1 at Kanazawa station was also spectacular. However, this place gives off a completely different impression.
They even have a bunch of outdoor exhibitions.
It kinda looks like a park, I like it. I love the vibez2 it’s giving!
I believe you mean “vibes.”
Akuta-kun, good observation. One of the key concepts of this place is being a “museum open to the city like a park.”3
A polyphony... in other words, the underlying idea of a place that, despite being composed of diverse voices, comes together into one single harmony.
Diverse… voices…
Hey, teach. What’s that smush of silver balls over there?
There are some children playing with and staring at it for some reason.
That’s a work called “Maru.”4 It’s composed of 16 half-domes with mirror finishes. I think people are having fun looking at it from up close.
Hmm. The contemporary arts gave me the impression that it’s difficult to understand, but brats like them are surprisingly able to grasp its essence.
We still have some time before we need to meet with the curator. How about checking out some of the indoor exhibitions?
I’m kinda interested in this exhibit I saw on dazzle, the one where you walk in a swimming pool.5
AH! My creative juices are flowing! The title of my next movie will be called “250,000 Miles Along the Pool Bottom”...
…
(It’s almost time for the meeting… My stomach… hurts…)
…? That’s…
(The “colour activity house”6 Nanamegi showed me on dazzle… It doesn’t look too crowded right now…)
I’ll… go, take a look…
*Kiroku walks in*

Hey, Kiroku! Have you calmed down? Take deep breaths, yo, deep breaths!
…Huu…
(The glass walls are so colourful… And you can see the view outside beyond the cellophane.)
Hurry up and get mooooving~, let’s go eat alreadyyyy~.
It’ll be okays… We’re, all here… for yous…
Kiroku. You have what it takes. Believe in yourself.
(That’s right… I’ve prepared a lot for today, and even practiced introductions and handing out business cards with my family… I’m sure… it’ll be fine…)
Oi, oi, rather than worrying about all that business card bullshit, ain’t how you present yourself more importanT? Stop talking about useless craP.
Uu…
Oh my god, like, myyy god. All our pep talk is, like, totally wasted nooow. He’s gonna have like, a total breakdown if we say anything negative, like are we not on the same page hereeee?
It’s like, soo rough being an artist~. Maybe you should quit~? It might be easieeeer?
No problem, yo! Kiroku is gifted, yo! And everyone knows that, yo!
Besides, the curator is an artistic person, yo!
I’m sure they’ll understand Kiroku’s unique talents, yo!
Of course. The lantern Kiroku made in Shodoshima was well received. I’m sure it will be the same this—
Same as ShodoshimA? Then we’re fuckeD!
!
Time skip

It’s almost time for the meeting. Is everyone here?
Hoh, I do not see Kinugawa-kun with us.
Now that you mention it…
I saw him going that way earlier. I’ll go get him.
Thanks.
(I think it was around that artwork—)

(From off screen) GYAHAHA! You mean like how he toooootally never finished it~?
?
(Was that… Kiroku?)

If the same thing happens, you’ll never be able to show up in public agaiN.
Indeed. The lantern on Shodoshima was meant to help with the festival. This time, you will be doing official work as a ward mayor of HAMA Tours.
You have a big BIG BIIIIIIIG responsibility~.
(Are those… finger puppets? I’ve seen them lying around our room before…)
And last time, your shitty lantern got called disgustingly cute by a few peoplE…
This time, they’re probably not even gonna add the cutE.
In other words… it’ll only be dis-gus-ting! GYAHA!
(Is he talking… with them…?)
No worries… I’m sure the chief… will help you agains…
That’s right, yo! And so will Mister Nanaki, yo!
Nanaki is social… and empathetic… so everyone loves hims…
To put it simply, he’s an artist who’s the complete opposite of yoU!
…Haa.
(...It looks like they’re done.)
Ah, Kiroku. We’ve been looking for you.
…! Nanamegi…
It’s almost time for the meeting, so let’s go back.
Okay… C-Coming.
(He’s back to his usual self.)
(I wonder what that was…)
Strikingly designed & colored gate with twisting supporting pillars, modelled on a traditional drum. (Google)
The original word used is 雰囲気 (pronounced funiki), but Akuta says it as fuinki which is a common mispronunciation of the word. It is not a mistake, just a difference in pronunciation such as how some people say to-may-to while others say to-maa-to. It is common among the younger generation to pronounce it the way Akuta does and apparently, 22% of the Japanese population pronounces it as so. (NHK)
